Bya Medeiros is an educator, environmentalist and designer. She graduated in Philosophy, specializing in art education from the State University of Minas Gerais - UEMG in 1999, in Belo Horizonte. In 2017 she obtained a master's degree in Arts, Urbanities and Sustainability from the Federal University of São João Del Rei / MG - Brazil.

Since 2000 she has worked as a Ceramic Designer-Maker in her studio. Her research and ceramic experiments go through their respective processes of maturation, and over time, the thought about her sculptures reveals them in a relationship of coexistence between forms and spaces. She had her production exposed in commercial galleries in cities like Belo Horizonte, Recife and Rio de Janeiro.

In parallel with the activity of designer and educator, she served as a member / volunteer and coordinator of the Recyclable Craft Center at the NGO - Garbage e Citizenship of Divinópolis, from 2002 to 2012. Since then, she has created a series of activist actions in the city, using images and objects as vehicles of education, subversion and protest. She aims to draw the attention of the population and invite it to reflection, as well as charge the responsible politics for solutions to the social and environmental issues of the city.

On the other hand, she has devoted herself to researching urban and natural landscapes, seeking to examine and understand the relation between society / culture and nature through the paths in the city and in the countryside, reflecting not only the production of these poetic practices, but the desire to awaken consciousness in those who desire a better world.
