The Burned Land - 2012

The "Burned Land" Exhibition was held in 2012 at A Casa Arte e Cultura, in Divinópolis / MG. The event was held to mark the completion of a stage of the Free Ceramic Course, of the Bya Medeiros’ studio.

Those who practice pottery are led by the secrets of the earth and fire to a delicate knowledge, one that only the soul provides and which can lead the individual, perhaps, close to creative freedom. What unites the four elements is also the symbolic appeal of the union between water and land.

​

The pieces generally reveal a mixture of traits received from the Minas Gerais culture, a daily practice that proves all these teachings beyond the construction of an object. A reverence for this millennial trade!
