The customization course was an invitation from “Escola Casa Aristides Art Studio and Workshops” in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais. The Project of this Art School was to promote the offer of courses in art-education, especially handcrafts and recycling projects. At this School they also hold exhibitions and sell the pieces of art made by the students.

Customization is the possibility of interfering in new and old pieces of clothing, which we can rip, cut, shred, paint and blend pieces and textures. We can add to the clothes small objects that would be thrown away, or reuse old pieces of the wardrobe. The purpose of the course is to promote the designer, the democracy and the sustainability of fashion. It also promotes the experience of the aesthetic work and everything that concerns the creative action, such as personal resources, skills, research of materials and techniques. The course has also aimed to give an alternative income to workers and unemployed people, giving them the possibility of selling exclusive products.

 

The goods that are sold strengthen the bond between culture, environment and the productive society, which values transparency, ethics and fashion. The course program took into account the creation of unique, exclusive pieces; research and reuse of discarded materials; color theory basics; manufacture of natural paints and their use.
