Fashion IS Soft - 2012

This partnership arised with the 4th event FashionMix to make the mix of updated concepts of fashion, business and sustainability. In order to innovate in the fashion business world, SINVESD, the Divinópolis Clothing Industry Union sought environmental assistance for the mitigation of carbon emissions during the event at the NGO - Garbage & Citizenship of Divinópolis. The project included production of the members of the NaLATA Project, idealized and coordinated by Bya Medeiros.

The meaning of "going soft" suggests giving condition, making things easy, being easy. That was the starting point! Reusing the material generated by the local fashion industry would perhaps be one of the greatest facilitating components for a designer to create from garbage or textile waste.

The material suggests different things: colors, varieties of textures, volumes, weights, prints ...The rich elements instigate perceptions and ludic visions, bring us closer to the aesthetic experience. This "easy" is a condition of the gaze, of experience in relation to material, without it, enlightener of things, things just aren’t anything, they do not exist, they do not mean anything.

The "Soft Flowers" are derived from the sum of organic images using the soft characteristic of the materials used. The fabrics are sorted and sewn from their colors, creating unfoldings in monochrome and volume. This is the result of the "aesthetics of soft", because it is our material in abundance: the fabric. “Flores Moles” is the theme, and it has as an inspiring background the work of Leda Catunda. It is an aesthetic pretext for reuse, as well as a challenge to bring a new culture of sustainability to the present generation. "Soft" is a concept appropriate to material, environment, discourse, coherence, responsibility.
