Acting together with ASCADI - Association of Paper and Cardboard Pickers and Reusable Materials of Divinópolis, and other socio-environmental problems, the NGO - Municipal Forum Garbage & Citizenship of Divinópolis contributed to the promotion of sustainable development. Goals and projects: eradication of the dump and child labor in them; recovery of degraded areas; incentives for waste reduction, reuse and recycling; implementation of selective collection programs in the city; instruction of the collectors to search for improvement of their work, income and social security; collaboration in the formulation of solid waste public policies (urban, rural, industrial and health); formation of partnerships in actions of environmental education and the updating of the local teams involved with the solid waste issue, as well as other inspection and collaborative actions.

During the ten years she was a member of the NGO - Garbage & Citizenship of Divinópolis, Bya Medeiros participated in a permanent discussion, proposal, awareness and solid waste management in the city of Divinópolis. The actions were mediated by discussions, protests, street interventions, environmental education, implementation of selective collection programs, projects for the eradication of child labor in dumps, follow-up and collaboration in the city’s solid waste management policy and the encouragement of reduction, reuse and recycling of waste.
