How to see the Earth - 2015

"How to see the Earth" was a ceramic exhibition promoted by four ceramists from the city of Divinopolis, Brazil. The common concerns of these potters were gathered in the same exhibition space. The goal was to recognize and stimulate the production of these new ceramists, as well as promoting a dialogue with society and, with that, to present a sample of what has been produced in the field of ceramics in the city.

The works presented were built from the knowledge acquired in the studio classes, resulting either experimentally or by reflections on the material and the work itself - such as containers, flowers, pots, models, organic or non-usable objects or not. Even when they’re still in the stage of maturation, they provoke synaesthesias and resonance, they also awake vibrant senses in the eyes of the ones who have the privilege of the encounter.

The desire of the ceramists to advance in experiments rules their work in the clay, on earth, in which meanings without signifiers evoke, by the very structure of the object, memories, senses, images of the unconscious, in a close intimacy with each inner universe. It is also allowed that the visitors can build their memories collectively, by sharing them, which somehow belong to us in the contemporaneity.

From this perception about the "Earth" comes the understanding of the changes of the material suffered through fire: the burning. The work itself and its materiality become functional, depending on what happens in the work process. This is the process that instigates the poetic construction of the group.
