Installation: Landscape-Impermanences - 2018
In this occupation the landscape theme is found in the details that the eyes tried to retain. The interest is to bring the visibility of the modes and movements of the earth, but not on their displacement in space that gives harmony with the Solar System, rather, it shows the way of being trampled, of being dust, of being quicksand; to collapse, to slide, to banish ...
It’s a narrative of its flows of impermanences by virtue of the waters of rain, of the winds or its internal tremors, changing the cartography of the landscapes. Sometimes quickly, others subtle and gradual, almost impeccable, causing minor changes such as deformities on the surface and warping of trees.
Of course, in almost all its forms and movements, danger haunts our gaze at the same time as it enchants to aim at its displacement, detaching surfaces, soaking and transforming into mud. And after surviving this natural recklessness, we can observe in the details of the mountain, drained lands and muted stones retained by gravitational action. We may think: it has paralyzed at this very moment!
Something like a seismic movement just moved them. The drained earth, the rolled stones, are uncertain in their place. Any gust of strong wind will enable them to move. These landscapes transform and evolve into zones of risk for the inhabitants of the earth. Brave mother earth: shelters, nourishes, fertilizes, caresses, give birth and buries.
The impermanence of the landscape lies, perhaps, in these details of the “in between”. Between one event and another, between a time and space retained in memory, in the photo, in the experience of the visible. The transit of the event is of the order of yet-to-become, of the overlapping inter-time. The inter-time, the event, is a time where nothing happens, just the expectation, the reserve of the eye that eats everything.
