Narcissus - 2013

The landscape of the earth is made of water, everything is born and lives from it, said a hidden thinker.

The water metaphor, according to Bachelard, announces the sign of "deep maternity", the image of the spring outpouring continuous birth. Bringing the idea of origin, of anteriority, from the point of view of generation. Water as a natural element, everything that is formed from its substance is immanent to it. It's born!

In this landscape, in which the glass bodies take over the mirror of water, provoking the confrontation of possible images of itself, generates one between two, entropic situation, Greek entropè, return, return-kind of redoubled on itself , in powerful reduction of inequalities.

Its reflection rehearses the contemplation mode. Its image converges to reflection and reflexion - it takes shape in the myth of Narcissus. The young Narcissus contemplates his own image on the surface of the fountain, falls in love with the reflection of his beauty and is consumed by the waters. In another instant, Narciso is also responsible for a mirroring of the world, creating another virtual and fanciful world.

Water and glass make us think of relationships in which one seeks the other,in  attempts of reciprocal encounters. Wouldn’t it be our endeavour for a relationship between us humans with our home Earth? What corresponds to sustain and maintain planetary correspondences. Narcissus indicates to us an attitude of reflection, we love what we reflect and we reflect what we love. Communion with our peers, our equals, when there is room in my house, in my soul and in the world for the different, the opposite, the non-self.
